Abt AS7-R und Abt AS7 – Abt Sportsline delivers the perfect SUV

As is customary for Abt, the “R” in AS7-R stands for “Racing”. And of course the vehicle based on the Q7 is a true racer. The top speed surges to approximately 260 km/h – a value that is not only impressive in the segment of the SUVs. Equipped with a supercharger, the 4.2 ltr V8 model becomes a husky performer. In comparison to the serial model, Abt has boosted the power of the AS7-R by awe-inspiring additional 150 HP. Now mighty 500 horses drive the heavyweight and manage the spring from zero to 100 km/h I just 5.9 seconds. The AS7-R is not only an extreme sports car, it is lordly, too. The front spoiler lip and fender extensions are painted in striking matt chrome; the other body parts are matt black. The extravagant as well as discreet look is continued in the car interior. The Abt designer team from Kempten has created a high-quality concept for the luxury SUV with a leather interior package and a multimedia system developed by Abt Sportsline’s technology partner Alpine Electronics. The exceptional Rear-Seat-Entertainment System comprises, amongst others, 10-inch monitors integrated in the front seats, DVD-changer for six discs, tuner, iPod, DVB-T tuner and a Playstation 2. Handling is simple – and, of course, perfected to detail; just what you would expect of an Abt car.

In addition to the SUV “R” model, Abt also offers body styling and suspension parts for the other Q7 models. The team from Kempten has also developed a power boost for the 3.0 TDI engine. The Abt AS7 delivers impressive good looks and highlights the vehicle’s character. And this all-wheel-drive car is all but lame because Abt Sportsline has increased the 3.0 TDI engine’s power by 39 HP to as much as 272 HP. What makes the Diesel engine so special is the enormous drive. The serial Q7 from Ingolstadt already has a torque of 500 Nm, whereas the Abt version, in contrast, performs with a torque of 550Nm. Like the AS7-R, also the AS7 was upgraded with special designer elements. Fender extensions and rear wing make the Q7 look even more powerful and present on the road. 22-inch AR wheels highlight the long sides of the SUV and accentuate its design. Abt Sportsline has succeeded in enhancing the Q7 without changing much of its character. Quite the contrary: The AS7-R and the AS7 prove that the team from Kempten has managed to emphasize a vehicle’s character even more.

“Dynamical elegance – the Abt AS5

Unobtrusive design and powerful appearance – this is what the Abt AS5 stands for. With a discerning eye on the detail Abt enhances the elegant Audi Coupé with its breathtaking, pleasing contours and the stretched flanks. The team from Kempten has managed to upgrade the unique vehicle without changing its character. With the two coloured paint and the Abt body kit, the AS5 appears like a mannequin in an extravagant designer tailor-made suit.The front skirt, in which a grid element accents the front fog lights and the single-frame grill, the strikingly curved lateral parts, the fender insets and the gill-shaped air inlets form a shapely unit. The Coupé is a unique and beautiful car, no matter from which perspective. The rear skirt inset with the diffuser excellently harmonizes with the 4-pipe rear muffler, together with the perfectly designed rear spoiler it accentuates the rear of the vehicle. As ideal complement, Abt recommends the new BR wheel in 20 inch. With its superposed spokes, the wheel seems to rapidly move forward although it is standing still.

The Abt AS5 is not only optically a real sports car. In Essen it is presented with the powerful 3.0 TDI engine which, thanks to Abt Power S, now brings 300 HP (221 KW) onto the road instead of the serial 240 HP (176 KW). The torque of 600 Nm is getting free at already 2400 rpm and provide for shear force in all situations. Also impressive is the acceleration of the self-igniting engine. Exactly 5.3 seconds needs the car from standing still to 100 km/h, the top speed is 264 km/h – values which suit to a sporty Coupé like the Abt AS5. In order that the impressive power remains controllable, Christian Abt, motor sport professional, excellently adjusted the Abt thread sports suspension in detail. And the Abt brake system with discs 380 millimeters diameter powerfully grips.Abt multifunctional sports steering wheel, soft nappa leather grip and carbon look leather adorn the driver’s workplace. Abt aluminium pedals and gear shift knob complete the sporty accent in the interior. A successful masterpiece can be seen at the ESSEN MOTOR SHOW, the Abt AS5. The only downside is: It wants to be driven and this, unfortunately, is impossible in the exhibition hall.

“Avanti, Avanti” ABT AS4 Avant – fast, attractive and very practical

First of all, a station wagon must be multifunctional and spacious for a family and their luggage. When it comes from Abt Sportsline, the leading tuner of cars by the Volkswagen group, then it is suitable for everyday use and sporty at the same time. In the case of the new ABT AS4 Avant also the outer qualities are impressive as the body kit designed for the multifunctional vehicle by the versatile team based in the Allgäu has become extraordinarily fancy and dynamic. The front skirt defines the contours of the vehicle’s front and makes the face of the A4 appear brawnier. The transitions to the fender insets and the side skirts are very elegant and sporty. A view on the side proofs self-confidently that the ABT AS4 Avant is a real power station. The icing on the cake of this overall successful car is its rear section radiating dominance with a roof spoiler, rear skirt and, typical for ABT, a 4-pipe exhaust system. ABT recommends the BR wheel, which matches perfectly the design of the station wagon made in Kempten and, even when standing still, signals that the AS4 Avant offers pure driving pleasure.

But the ABT AS4 Avant does not only look sporty, it is in fact sporty. This is ensured by suspensions which are perfectly tuned to the vehicle by Christian Abt. Especially recommendable is the ABT adjustable sports suspension that can be adjusted to the individual manner of driving. But also ABT suspension springs improve the road holding of the Avant significantly. Equipped that way, the practical sports car is fit for an Allgäu power increase. Several versions are available for the different engines. Two examples: The TFSI with 1.8 liter cubic capacity featuring ABT POWER offers respectable 200hp (147kW) instead of the serial 160hp (118kW). With ABT POWER-S even 240hp (177kW) are provided. ABT POWER gives the 3.0 TDI engine dynamic 282hp (207kW) instead of formerly 240hp (177kW). ABT POWER S upgrades the huge Diesel to 310hp (228kW). The maximum torque then is 610Nm instead of the serial 500Nm. Thanks to ABT brakes, the sporty ABT AS4 Avant always offers the driver the certainty that the car can be decelerated exactly and in every situation. Precision down to the last detail – this is what the name ABT guarantees, also for the new station wagon version of the A4.
